Marina Beach Style Fish Fry Recipe

Rohu Fish – 1 kg

Cooking Oil – for shallow frying

Marinade

Grind Together:

Fennel Seeds – 1 tbsp

Black Pepper – ½ tbsp

Cumin Seeds – ½ tbsp

Add:

Red Chilli Powder – 1 tbsp

Turmeric Powder – ½ tbsp

Garam Masala – 1 tbsp

Salt – 1 tbsp (adjust to taste)

Oil – 2 tbsp

Finishing Powder

Dry roast and grind:

Groundnuts 1 tbsp

Chana Dal – 1 tbsp

Urad Dal – ½ tbsp

Coriander Seeds – ½ tbsp

Cumin Seeds – ½ tbsp

Black Pepper – ½ tbsp

Fenugreek Seeds – ½ tbsp

Curry Leaves – 1 sprig

Method
 

  1. Method

    1. Prepare the Marinade

    Grind fennel, cumin, and black pepper into a fine powder. Mix with chilli powder, turmeric, garam masala, salt, and oil to form a thick paste.

    2. Marinate the Fish

    Coat each Rohu fish piece evenly with the marinade. Allow it to rest for 30–45 minutes.

    3. Prepare the Finishing Powder

    Dry roast all finishing powder ingredients separately over low heat until aromatic. Cool completely and grind into a coarse powder.

    4. Fry the Fish

    Heat oil in a wide tawa or shallow frying pan.
    Place the marinated fish carefully and fry over medium heat for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

    5. Final Finish

    Immediately after removing the fish from the pan, sprinkle the roasted finishing powder generously over the hot fish.
    Serve immediately.
